4Mojang Working on Three New Projects
Fresh off the success of Minecraft, the developers over at Mojang have not been resting on their laurels. They just released Cobalt in their first publishing venture, cranked out the 1.1 update for Minecraft, and we know they’re also working on their trading card game, Scrolls. But amazingly, that’s not all.
Mojang has three more games in development as we speak. In an interview with Edge magazine, CEO Carl Manneh spilled some of the beans about these titles. Notch is working on a new title personally, which is so new that Notch may not even know what it is. Manneh said of Notch’s project, “What it is today, I don’t think he knows himself. We certainly don’t. It’s probably going to be a lot of testing and playing around to see what works.”
The remaining two projects are being done by other developers within Mojang, independent of Notch. Both have strict NDAs on them right now, so Manneh was tight-lipped on details. It doesn’t sound like we will have to wait long before the secret’s out, though, as Manneh revealed that both projects should not only be announced, but released within the first half of 2012. As Edge points out, these will be big projects for the company, as Notch won’t have as much of his imprint on them.
